BRITISH COAL COMPENSATION SCHEME If you are a Miner or an ex-Miner then you may be pursuing a claim for breathing difficulties or Vibration White Finger through one of the Handling Agreements for Mineworkers which is managed by the representatives for the Department of Trade & Industry (DTI). The number of miners with injuries or illness from working in the mines far exceeded all expectations and has resulted in the DTI and their claims handlers finding the volume much more time consuming to process than was ever envisaged. Beresfords Solicitors are highly respected and frequently praised in their handling of these claims. Our large, skilled and dedicated staff force is supported by state of the art technology ensuring the most effective processing of claims. If you are a Beresfords Solicitors client and you would like an update please call our CLIENT CARE DEPARTMENT on Freephone 0800 085 0505. Deadlines for claiming have passed Unfortunately, the deadlines for claiming under the Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and Vibration White Finger Schemes have passed and so Beresfords Solicitors are not registering any more of these types of cases. However, we would be happy to advise anyone whose claim has already been registered under these schemes subject to our observing professional requirements where other solicitors have already instructed. Noise Induced Hearing Loss If you have worked in a noisy environment (including the mines) and you are suffering hearing difficulties then you could be entitled to compensation.
